About NYRDDC Yangon
NYRDDC Yangon — the Nationalities Youth Resource Development Degree College (Yangon) — is a government-run higher education institution established specifically to uplift ethnic nationality and border-area youth across Myanmar. It is the only degree-level college in Lower Myanmar dedicated entirely to this mission, operating under the Ministry of Border Affairs and Nationalities Development.
The college traces its foundation to the early 1990s, when the government recognized a critical gap in higher education access for youth from Myanmar's border regions and ethnic communities. The Ministry of Border Affairs (MOBA) formalized operations from around 1992, providing budget, institutional structure, and a mandate to build an educated cadre of ethnic nationality graduates ready for government service and regional development roles.
Located in the Dagon Myothit area of Yangon, the college offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees alongside vocational and technical diploma courses. Graduates are typically placed in government posts through the Ministry of Border Affairs and related ministries — receiving official appointment letters upon completion of their studies.
Mission and Objectives

Inclusive Access
Designed for border-area and ethnic nationality youth who face geographic and socioeconomic barriers to standard university admission — opening doors that would otherwise remain closed.
Government-Backed Education
Fully funded and overseen by the Ministry of Border Affairs, with graduates receiving appointment letters for government posts upon graduation — a guaranteed career pathway.
Community Development Focus
Programs are tailored to produce graduates who return to serve their communities as teachers, officers, and development workers in Myanmar's most underserved regions.
Arts and Science Pathways
Both liberal arts (BA) and science (BSc) programs are available, alongside technical diploma courses — catering to diverse academic backgrounds and career interests.
Nationwide Recruitment
Students are recruited from ethnic nationality townships across all of Myanmar's regions — bringing together diverse cultural backgrounds under one roof in Yangon.
