University of Pharmacy, Mandalay (UOPM) was established on 22nd May 2000 as the Institute of Pharmacy, Mandalay with its first batch of 163 matriculated students. Initially housed temporarily in the former Ba Htoo hostel at the Institute of Medicine, Mandalay campus, it moved to the former Mental Hospital on 35th Street (between 65th and 66th) on 25th June 2000.
On 4th May 2004, UOPM relocated to its present peaceful location on Htonebo-Myitnge two-way road near Taw-twin village, Amarapura Township. The name was officially changed to University of Pharmacy, Mandalay in 2006. The first graduation ceremony was held on 26th June 2004, conferring B.Pharm degrees to 73 graduates. To date, UOPM has produced 1,590+ B.Pharm graduates, 34 M.Pharm graduates, and 6 PhD holders, serving as Upper Myanmar's primary source of qualified pharmacists.
