University of Pharmacy, Yangon (UOPY) traces its origins to 1964 when the Department of Pharmacy was first established under the Institute of Paramedical Sciences at Yangon General Hospital. In January 1992, it was proudly established as the Institute of Pharmacy in the former BOC College building on Thahton Road. The institute moved to its current 19.958-acre campus on Waibargi Road, North Okkalapa in May 2001.
Upgraded to university status in 2005, UOPY now offers Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), Master of Pharmacy (MPharm), and PhD programs in Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Clinical Pharmacy. The university accepts approximately 150 students annually based on University Entrance Examination scores, making it one of Myanmar's most selective health science institutions.
