About the University
Sagaing University of Education (SUOE) is one of Myanmar's two senior universities of education, dedicated to producing qualified, pedagogically grounded teachers for Myanmar's primary and secondary school system. The university was formally opened on 27 June 2000 as Sagaing Institute of Education (SIE), and was elevated to university status on 27 June 2014.
Located on a sprawling 152.38-acre campus in Sagaing — Myanmar's spiritual heartland — SUOE combines the academic rigor of a research university with the warmth of a teacher-training community. Under the leadership of Rector Dr. Myat Myat Thaw, the university maintains a student capacity of approximately 3,500.
SUOE's mandate extends beyond classroom instruction — its senior lecturers regularly deliver short-term pedagogical and professional development trainings to in-service teachers and educators across Myanmar, making it a national center of education expertise.
