From Technical High School to Technological University serving Kayin State
Founded as Government Technical High School
Established on 6 September 1993 beside Hpa-An-Donyin Road in Field No. 1185, beginning technical education in Kayin State.
Government Technological Institute (GTI)
Transformed on 12 August 1998 to produce middle-level technicians for the region and nation.
Government Technological College (GTC)
Upgraded on 28 December 2000 to offer bachelor-level engineering programs.
Technological University (Hpa-An)
Promoted to university status on 20 January 2007 by the Education Committee of the Union Government.

Over 19 academic years, produced 3,810 engineering graduates (5 M.E., 1,089 B.E., 1,176 B.Tech., 1,540 A.G.T.I.).
