About the University
The University of Computer Studies, Yangon (UCSY) is one of Myanmar's leading public universities, specialising in computer science, computer technology, and information technology. Operating under the Ministry of Science and Technology, it has served as Myanmar's foremost institution for computing education for over five decades.
Founded in 1971 as the University Computer Center (UCC) under the University of Yangon, UCSY has steadily evolved — upgrading to the Institute of Computer Science and Technology (ICST) in 1988 and receiving full university status on 1 July 1998. Teaching is conducted entirely in English, with highly competitive nationwide admission.
UCSY's mission centres on human resource development, world-class research, and strong industry partnerships — training computing specialists who power Myanmar's growing digital economy and government IT infrastructure.
