About the University
West Yangon Technological University (WYTU) is a public engineering university located in the heart of Hlaing Thar Yar Township, Yangon β strategically positioned adjacent to one of Myanmar's most active industrial zones. Originally established in 1996 as a second campus of the prestigious Yangon Technological University (YTU), WYTU became an official subsidiary institution in December 1999 before being formally recognized as a fully independent standalone university on December 15, 2005.
Ranked as Myanmar's #3 Engineering University, WYTU serves approximately 4,000 students across 11 undergraduate engineering programs. Its unique advantage lies in its proximity to industrial facilities, giving students unrivaled access to practical training environments that most engineering universities can only dream of.
Since 2021, WYTU has operated under the Ministry of Education, reflecting its growing role as a national educational institution. The university holds ISO 9001:2015 certification and has 6 of its programs provisionally accredited by the EEAC/FEIAP, marking significant strides in international quality recognition.
